Polly Kincer **

Polly E. Kincer, the daughter of the late William H. and Betty Jane Craft Kincer, died on December 24, 1997 at the Whitesburg Appalachain Regional Healthcare Center. She was born in Tacoma, Virginia on June 2, 1902. Polly was 95 years of age. Surviving Miss Kincer are two sisters: Ritter Kincer Fugate of Mayking, KY; and Requa Kincer Spears of Lexington, KY; along with fourteen nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews. Polly was preceded in death by two sisters: Lina K. Hogg and Totsie K. Childers; two brothers: Wallace and Shade Kincer. Polly Kincer graduated from Jenkins High School and the Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College in Richmond, KY; there she earned a Kentucky Teacher Certificate, Polly taught 45 years as an Elementary Teacher in the Jenkins Independent School System and the Hanover Indiana School System. She retired from both Kentucky and Indiana. After retirement, Polly en joyed living in her home at Mayking, where she had many good friends and neighbors. Polly was a member of the Whitesburg First Baptist Church for many years. Most recently she had worshipped at the Mayking Baptist Church which is close to her home. Funeral services for Polly E. Kincer were conducted from the Mayking BaptiSt Church, Mayking, Ky.; on Saturday, December 27, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. with Jack Sparks officiating. Burial followed in the Webb Cemetery, Mayking, KY with Everidge Funeral Home of Whitesburg in charge of arrangements.
