James W. (Jimbo) Revis

James “Jimbo” William Revis, Jr., 63, died September 5.

Born in Jenkins, he served his community as a coal miner, rescue diver, police officer, firefighter and most recently worked as a 911 coordinator and a Letcher County Ranger.

He was a fun-loving and kindhearted man, and to know him was to love him. His quick wit and sarcasm were a fun time to be had by all. He loved the beauty of the American eagle, of which he was an avid collector, and old muscle cars, specifically, the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro.

Mr. Revis was preceded in death by his parents, James William Revis, Sr. and Norma Gail Revis Adams.

Surviving are two children, Lauren Nicole Revis and James William “JW” Revis; a grandchild, Winnie Faye Revis; his sisters, Rachel Sexton and husband Eddie of Leburn, Vanessa Jordan of Clintwood, Va., and Amy (Michael) Gosnell and husband Michael of Jenkins; and a number of nieces and nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were held September 9 at Burdine Freewill Baptist Church.
