Glenn Cantrell - Class Of 1961

Glenn Cantrell, age 78, passed away after a brave battle with kidney cancer on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Born on March 27, 1943, in Jenkins, KY, Glenn was the son of Tora and John Cantrell (predeceased) and was eighth of nine siblings. Glenn was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Jenkins High School in Jenkins, KY, a veteran of the US Air Force, a graduate of Morehead State University in Morehead, KY and a retired agent of the Internal Revenue Service. He was a proud Kentucky native, but called Ohio home for most of his life.  He loved his Brookville, OH community and made a daily habit of long walks, visiting local businesses, friends and neighbors.  He spent his retirement traveling the United States with his wife, Ruth Kimmel-Cantrell.  Together, they especially enjoyed extended trips to Florida and the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee. Glenn was competitive and passionate about sports - an avid UK Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds fan. Those who knew and loved him will remember his beautiful blue eyes, his easy, affable way, his stories and jokes, and his affinity for puzzles. He is survived by wife, Ruth Kimmel-Cantrell, one sister, Sharon Hardesty, son Greg and wife Carrie Cantrell, daughter Joy & husband Ben Shugart, stepson Byron and wife Lindsay Kimmel, step-daughter Courtney and husband Kyle Spangler and grandchildren Amelia, Molly, Braydon, Mason, Landon, Kinsey, Junie, Beau, and Clayton.
