Reeda Wright

JOHNSON CITY - Reeda Katherine Wright, 91, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, TN.

Reeda was born in Haymond, Ky. on July 3, 1927, graduated from Fleming High School, Union College in Barboursville, KY.; and received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Kentucky. She taught biology and physical education at Jenkins, Kentucky High School for 45 years. She was a successful coach of basketball and track and field, and was inducted into the Letcher County Sports Hall of Fame. She was a member of Marvin’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Johnson City, TN.

Reeda was preceded in death by her parents, Roy T. and Mary (Morris) Reasor, Sr.; daughter, Anetha Wright; brother, Roy T. Reasor, II (Margaret); sister, Anetha Tanner; niece, Katherine Reasor Carmen; and first cousins, Zane R. (Tommy) Stone and Marceline R. (Jim) Honeycutt.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband of 62 years, Henry “Ed” Wright, Johnson City, TN., nephew, Roy T. (Fran) Reasor, III Pikeville, Ky; great nieces, Katie (Jimmy) Johnson, Lexington, Ky. and Maggie Reasor, Chicago, IL., great nephew, Brett (Annie) Carmen, Raleigh, NC., special cousin, Susie V. (Bill) Whitt, Big Stone Gap, VA. and Shane Vandergriff, Big Stone Gap, VA.

The family will receive friends 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Saturday at Gilliam Funeral Home (618 Wood Ave., W.) in Big Stone Gap, Va.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rick Clowers officiating.

Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap.

The family will serve as pallbearers.
