Carol Sue Cantrell Carol Sue “Coo” Cantrell, 87, of Burdine, KY, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Monday, January 15, 2024, in her home. Carol was born on April 8, 1936, in Jenkins, KY. to Noah Conley and Sarah Ann Greer.
Carol was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. Carol Sue married the love of her life, Terry C. Cantrell, Sr. in July of 1955. Carol was a devoted wife and mother and loved her role as Nanny. Carol worked and retired from Burdine Elementary School for 27 years as the head cook. Carol treasured her family and cherished every moment with them. She enjoyed the simple things in life, cooking, watching The UK sports teams, especially men's basketball, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She always looked forward to one of her favorite traditions, the annual Greer Family Reunion where she flexed her Rook skills at the table competing against her family and sharing many laughs along the way. Carol Sue will be remembered for her infectious laugh, contagious smile, and her heart of gold.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Toni Jo Salyer (Monty); brother Tommy Greer (Peggy); her 7 grandchildren Eddie Mullins (Tara), Tina Bolling (Alan), Natosha Pritchett (Mark), Justa Cantrell (Jerome), Kristen Cantrell (Michael), Trae Cantrell (Shelby), Sean Salyer (Jailyn); 11 great-grandchildren Zachary Bolling, Mackenzie Bolling, Grace Mullins, Alyssa Hurley, Luke Mullins, Bailey Pritchett, Levi Pritchett, Khloe Slone, Nick Mullins, Hunter Slone, Lincoln Cantrell, several nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones to mourn her passing and cherish her memory.
Carol was predeceased by her husband Terry C. Cantrell, Sr.; her children Kyle E. Cantrell and Terry C. Cantrell, II; parents Noah Conley and Sarah Ann Greer; siblings Aretta Mullins, Oakie Greer, Jr., Geoffrey “Goff” Greer, Aileen Adams, Harold Greer, Retha Addington, Bobby Greer, Danola Gossett as well as her many brothers and sisters-in-law. Her family finds comfort knowing that Carol Sue is pain free with her heavenly family.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00PM at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home Jenkins Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greer Cemetery at Jenkins. Visitation will begin on Saturday after 6:00PM at the Funeral Home.
