In Memory

Ronald Irwin - Class Of 1955

Ronald Wayne Irwin was born September 15, 1936 in Jenkins, KY. He passed at the Serenity House in Morristown, TN to spend his eternal life with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on December 31, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Jean Irwin. He was the son of the late Charles and Hazel Irwin; and father-in-law to the late Ronald Hyleman. He was father to Charlie (Brenda) Irwin, Tim (Kim) Irwin, and Lisa Hyleman. He leaves behind grandchildren: Adam Hyleman, Allie Irwin, Marissa Hyleman, and Ben Irwin.
Ronald was born and raised in Jenkins, KY and graduated from Jenkins High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jean Irwin and they moved to Michigan.
Ronald worked for McClouth Steel in Trenton, MI for 30 years and retired to Morristown, TN in 1985 where he enjoyed his retirement and worked part time. He enjoyed lots and lots of golf with his buddies at the White Pine Golf Club (and where he had 4 holes-in-one) until he was no longer able. He also loved watching University of Kentucky football or basketball.
Ronald loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and helped raise and influence them. He will be missed but his love and influence will live on through them.
The family would like to express a very special thank you and offer their sincere appreciation to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and the staff of The Serenity House of Morristown for their care and support to him and his family.
There will be a private service at the family cemetery in Norton, Virginia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Friends of Hospice Serenity House at 421 N. High Street, Morristown, TN 37816 or online at https://hospicefriends.org/how-you-can-help/.
