Rodney Gallion - Class Of 1949

Rodney Gallion, 80, died May 28 at his home in Jenkins.

A son of the late Jim and Mattie Mullins Gallion, he was the widower of Mary Bethalene Bowers Gallion, the father of the late James Harvey Gallion, and a brother of the late Opal Burke, Beulah Mattingly, Alice Hayes, Thurman Gallion, Gene Gallion, Doug Gallion, Clayton Gallion, and Bobby Ray Gallion.

He retired after serving in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years and was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion in Whitesburg and the Masonic Lodge in Lockbourne, Ohio.

Surviving are his daughter, Susan Mullins, Pound, Va.; a sister, Lena Hazel Gallion, Jenkins; two brothers, Charles Gallion and wife Loretta, and Jake Gallion, all of Jenkins; a daughterin law, Melanie Gallion, Beaufort, S.C, and friends Brad and Audrey Johnson, Jenkins, and Janice Case.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) in Pound, Va. Burial will be in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, Va.
