Jervis Blizzard - Class Of 1942

Jervis B. Blizzard, 78, of Lantana, FL died on Wednesday, November 7, 2001. He was born in Jenkins, KY, March 16, 1923. He was the son of Reed G. Blizzard and Hattie Vanover Blizzard.  He graduated from Jenkins High School in 1942.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in England, France and Germany. He graduated from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, NY.

He worked for many years as an engineer for United Technologies where, among other things, he helped to develop the life support system used by the Apollo Astronauts.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marion Reed Blizzard; his three children, Avryl Holden of Bolton, Reed Blizzard of Bethel, and Janet Drummey of Ellington; as well as five grandchildren. He is also survived by six sisters and a brother, Mabel Snodgrass of Hartford, Ruth Smallwood of Burdine, KY, Geraldine Sturmfelz of Baltimore, MD, Evelyn Grelli of Baltimore, MD, Jo Neil Collins of Marengo, IN, Ina Kay Ilish of Smithfield, VA, and Thurman Blizzard of San Clemente, CA. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Blizzard. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his name to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
