Joseph Bukovich, Jr. - Class Of 1937

Joseph Bukovich, Jr., age 95, of Jenkins, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday December 28, 2014 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center, Hazard, Kentucky.  He was born on September 5, 1919 at Buhl, Minnesota, and had made Jenkins his home for over ninety years.  He was employed by Beth-Elkhorn as a lab technician at the Dunham Preparation Plant for over forty years.    Joe was a veteran of World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement in aerial flights in the southwest Pacific.  He was of the Baptist Faith.

   Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Bukovich. 

   He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Bukovich DePriest (Joe), of Jenkins, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Aimee DePriest Wilson (Tim), of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Stacey DePriest Minton (Robbie), of Wytheville, Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Abigale Leigh Wilson, Amelia Grace Wilson, Luke Edward Minton, Joseph Kade Minton and Maggie Leigh Minton; a special lifelong friend, Wayne Collins, of Jenkins, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends.

   The family would like to express a special thanks to Christine and Mary at the Senior Citizens in Jenkins, and his buddy Doug at the VA Center.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

   Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 30, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Carty Funeral Home Polly & Craft Chapel, Jenkins, Kentucky.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM, with Joe DePriest officiating.  Family and friends will leave the funeral home at 11:15 AM on Wednesday December 31, 2014 and travel in procession for interment at the Beverly Cemetery, Wise, Virginia.
