Mrs. Peggy Ruth Sergent, age 81, of Jenkins, Kentucky, passed away early Monday morning on Monday December 24, 2012, at her home. She was born in Jenkins, Kentucky, on June 18, 1931, and lived her life there except for twenty-six years that she lived in Tennessee. She was a mother and a homemaker, and had worked as a lab technician at Jenkins Community Hospital and also for a. Mrs. Sergent was a member of the Jenkins Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed sewing and gardening, especially growing flowers. She was a daughter of the late Frank & Nola Wampler Conley.
Survivors include her husband of sisty-two years, Bill Sergent, of Jenkins, Kentucky; a daughter, Kathy Lynn Sergent, of Jenkins; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Debbie Sargent, of Jenkins; two grandchildren, Michael Ryan Sergent, of Jenkins, and Jared Woods Sergent, Georgetown, Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Camryn Grace Sergent, Georgetown, Kentucky, and Chandler Ryan Sergent, of Jenkins; a brother, Truman Conley, of Jenkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday December 27, 2012, at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Danny Mullins, officiating. Burial followed at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
