Bobby Gene Matney, 68, of Brandenburg, Ky., (formerly of Jenkins) passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Jewish Hospital in Lousiville.
Mr. Matney was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Navy. He retired from the school system after 27 years of teaching and was a member of the Buck Grove Baptist Church in Ekron, Ky. He had taughter for a number of years in the Jenkins School District.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bacome and Rosa Carter Matney, and a brother, Carl-Matney.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenna T. Matney of Brandenburg; daughter, Margaret L. Matney and her husband, Mike Davidson, of Brandenburg; son, Michael L. Matney and wife, Valerie, of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren: John Davidson and Avery Davidson, both of Brandenburg; sister, Thelma Thurston of Troy, Virginia; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 22, 2011 at the chapel of Coffey and Chism Funeral Home at Vine Grove, Ky. with Brother Dave Campbell officiating. Burial followed in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky with military honors.
