My father, Richard Smith (class of '47) died in October, 2002 of interstitial lung disease.  He was in the Marines and then the Air Force, retiring as a Mojor in 1971. His second carer was teaching High School and Middle School math and Washington State History, in Tacoma, Washington.  He took me and my brothers to Jenkins every few years to visit his sister and brother-in-law Charlcia and Charles Taylor while we were growing up.  Dad was very proud of having come from Jenkins and loved getting reconnected with friends from there via the internet.
