Wade "Butch" Combs, son of Maudie Madelyn Lee Barton and the late Ernest "Slick" Combs was born at McRoberts, Kentucky on January 31, 1946. He passed from this life at the Whitesburg Hospital on Thursday, July 27, 1995 making his stay here on earth 49 years, 5 months and 26 days.

Butch has been in poor health for the last five months and very ill the last three weeks before his passing, which would be considered sudden and unexpected.

Besides his father, Butch was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Combs on May 5, 1991.

Butch was a graduate of Morehead State University where he acquired his surveyor's degree.  He was self-employed as a surveyor and was also the chief assessor for Letcher County.  He has been a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. for many years.  He has also been a member of the McRoberts Missionary Baptist Church for 14 years.

Butch is survived by his mother Madelyn Barton and stepfather Charles Barton of McRoberts; son Ernie Combs of Lexington, KY; sisters Mickey Smith of Frankfort, KY and Linda Combs of McRoberts, KY

Also surviving are a host of uncles, aunts and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
