Upon graduation, I entered UK school of nursing. After 1 year I decided I could not handle that. I then enrolled at Pikeville College and switched my major to elementary education. I met my husband while at Pikeville. We married in 1967 and I started teaching that same year. When Gary was drafted, we spent some time moving around. Once he was out of service we settled in Virginia. I received my Masters in Elementary Education from UVA in 1982.Basically, I taught for a total of 41 years, 30 years with the state of Va., and 20 years in NewPort News, 11 years at various places. We are about 30 miles from Virginia Beach and about 20 miles from Williamsburg. Yorktown is a great place to live. I retrired at the end of the 2007 and 2008 school year. Gary retired Oct. 1 2008. Retirement is great. |
