Glenn ‘Mike’ Damron dies at 60

Glenn Michael ‘Mike’ Damron, 60, of Lynchburg, Va., died May 2.

A son of the late Doug and Jackie Rowlette Damron, he was a brother

of the late Randy Damron and a son-in-law of the late Don Shannon.

An avid University of Kentucky sports fan, he was the administrator of

Campbell County SVC & Authority and president of Virginia Water & Waste Association.

He was graduated from UK with a bachelor’s degree in mining, was a licensed

professional civil engineer in Virginia and New Hampshire, and was a past

chairman of Virginia Drinking Water Quality Commission.

He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, and

the Water Environment Federation & American Public Works Association.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Shannon Damron; two brothers,

Rick Damron and wife Cynthia of Jenkins, and Shawn Damron and wife Jen of Billings, Mt.;

two sisters, Betsy Addington and husband David of Jenkins,

and Lisa Wiley and husband Billy of King, N.C.; his mother-in-law,

Wilmagene R. Shannon of Lexington;

a sister-in-law, Donna Shannon Elliott and husband Allan of Lexington;

a brother-in-law, Steve Shannon and wife Sara of Buda, Tex.;

niece Susan Gaines of Lexington; and friend Roy Foushee and wife Julie of Lexington.

Funeral services were held May 6 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

I taught Mike when he was in fifth grade.  He was Mr. Personality and always enthusiastic about things going on at school.  There was no doubt that he would be successful in whatever he endeavored to do in life.  I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
